Fellow Lifers!
I apologize for the lateness of the notification. Life has been incredibly busy & this week just seemed to sneak up on me!
Angel Food Ministries Distribution Day is this Saturday, the 28th at Aldersgate United Methodist Church (right off the by-pass, between the Southwest Parkway & Harvey Rd exits – just past Academy and Gander Mountain).
I will be going by Aldersgate Friday night to help prep the building (set up tables, cover the floor with plastic sheeting, make signs & item markers, prep new order stations, …). Last month I attended the mid-month “Order Day”, and this month I worked the March order processing & April order placement table.
Saturday I will be arriving early (between 7:45-8am) to learn the unloading process (paperwork, order of items being unloaded, placement, & inventory). After distribution (which begins 9:45-10:00, and runs until noon) – some will process the days paperwork and reconcile orders placed for next month, while others break down the tables, pack re-usable materials for next month & clean the church.
I have been working on this for several months now, and I forget that not everyone knows what this is all about, so here is the website for Angel Food : http://www.angelfoodministries.com/
and a direct link to this months’s menu:

Sandra Goldapp petitioned Aldersgate to help start Angel Food distribution in our area several years ago. It has grown & flourished, but we believe there is still so much more to be done. Sandra & I believe that we could work miracles with a Bryan distribution location (LifeChurch) and a little advertising – and that’s where we stand right now. Sandra has offered to train our group and get us up & running so that we can take orders from the Bryan area (to be submitted to Aldersgate for monthly order).
This would mean our team would prep our church the Friday night before, take a couple of trucks to Aldersgate to pick up the Bryan orders (after inventory), then return to LifeChurch to sort the orders and open the doors for our own distribution. We both feel this program will grow quickly, and will soon warrant our own on-site tuck delivery – if our orders exceed those of Aldersgate (and we think they will). That is why the volunteer process is so important right now. We are building and training a team of volunteers, to work one day a month to help feed a community! If we can learn the entire process as we go, it will smooth the transition to running our own Host Site in the coming months.
From the brief description above, you may choose the area that you feel you would be most productive in – or you are welcome to come early to see all of the stations in action and decide which area/task is right for you and the time you have available. Our goal is to have people step forward & commit to taking on a particular job and making it their own. And is doesn’t have to be a large job. For example, we need someone to break down the empty boxes at the end of the day. It’s not difficult or back breaking, but it is a job that has to be done. If you could commit to doing even this much each month, that is one solid brick in our Angel Food foundation.
I know time is precious and I understand if you can’t commit, but please check the sign-up sheet each week and join us when you can. You will be glad you did. This is a wonderful opportunity for all concerned. Please know that whenever & wherever you choose to work, you will come away feeling blessed & energized!
And again, please forgive me for getting this information out so late. I had NO idea just how much I relied on my computer! I was lost for nearly 3 weeks, but now that mine is finally operational again (Thanks Chris!) , I promise I will be fully prepared for next month!
**If you know you are interested or want to get on the volunteer roster, please reply to Cindy Broaddus at mtb@txcyber.com
Thank you for your patience & understanding, and I hope to see you Saturday!
